The Chase and Sanborn Hour was a popular American radio variety program built around comedy, music, and guest appearances. Its best-known era featured comedian Edgar Bergen and his wooden-dummy partner, Charlie McCarthy, whose sharp-tongued exchanges made ventriloquism a lively part of radio entertainment.
The program mixed Bergen and Charlie’s comic routines with musical performances and appearances by prominent entertainers. This recording’s title identifies Loretta Young as a featured guest, offering a glimpse of the show’s blend of familiar comedy and celebrity variety.
Warm, polished, and playfully theatrical, the broadcast moves between spoken humor and musical entertainment. Bergen’s composed delivery and Charlie’s mischievous interruptions give the show its distinctive comic contrast, while the variety format keeps the listening experience lively and welcoming.
This recording is part of the Old Time Radio collection.
