It aired from October 14, 1934, until June 7, 1955, before transitioning to television as Lux Video Theatre until 1957. The show originally premiered on the NBC Blue Network and later moved to CBS, where it gained immense popularity, attracting an audience of up to 40 million. Each episode featured live performances with a full orchestra, creating a unique listening experience. Notable hosts included Cecil B. DeMille and William Keighley, and the series was known for its high production values and the involvement of major film stars.

For its last season, the show returned to NBC, continuing to deliver captivating adaptations of classic stories. Lux Radio Theatre remains a cherished part of American entertainment history.
