A Short Walk from London to Venice is an adaptation of Thomas Coryate’s Crudities, bringing to life the journey of a gentleman from Somerset who, in 1608, embarked on an adventurous trek through Northern Europe to the enchanting city of Venice.

Featuring music from the period by composers such as Farnaby, Galeazzo, and Marenzio, this production showcases the talents of Mike Steer on various historical instruments, including the Baffo spinet and the Ruckers harpsichord.

Originally broadcast on BBC Radio 3 on July 10, 1988, this captivating program is directed by Paul McCreesh and produced by Graham Dixon, with John Wells portraying Coryate.
