"Look at 'em come, Jesse! More and more! Must be forty or fifty families." This is an old-fashioned adventure tale set on the Oregon Trail, just before the California Gold Rush. It is the story of a wagon train bound for the west, and the conflict which arises due to of a love triangle. Indian fights, buffalo hunts, dangerous river crossings and other dangers of the trail add to a gripping and entertaining yarn. (Summary by Lynne Thompson) (9 hr 25 min)

Throughly enjoyable
Avid listener
This follows the trials and troubles of 100's of 'coverd wagons' travelling across the Great Plains, prior and upto the beginning of the gold rush. Throughly enjoyed it, however, Chapter 14 sounds like a child reading a story book, rather than someone describing a destructive storm and a romance between two adults. Poor choice of narrator on this occasion.
It’s a good western

Nothing astonishing. It is a good book. Tells the story of a caravan heading to Oregon in 1848. Describes also the beginning of the Californian gold rush. The story of forbidden love is pleasant enough, albeit a little predictable because of the dichotomous characters.
sometimes hard to get into the flow of the story since there was a new narrator every other chapter but overall a really good story
Very good

Great historic fiction. Well told with many plot twists. Seemed to end suddenly. Thanks to the volunteers.
Relaxing pioneer story but the narrator isn’t relaxing- she’s downright sleepy.
