The Shadow of a Gunman  is a 1923 tragicomedy play by Seán O'Casey set during the Irish War of Independence. It centres on the mistaken identity of a building tenant who is thought to be an IRA assassin. The cast and producer of the 1976 RTÉ Radio production of Sean O'Casey's play 'The Shadow of a Gunman', during studio recording in July of that year. From left to right; producer John Lynch, unidentified, Niall Buggy as Davoren, Donal McCann as Seamus Shields, Jim Reid as Tommy Owens, Daphne Carroll as Mrs Henderson, Colette Proctor as Minnie Powell, unknown and Ginette Waddell as Mrs Grigson. All are gathered around a microphone in the studio, holding their scripts. 'The Shadow of a Gunman' was broadcast on 6 September 1976 with John Lynch producing. It was broadcast as a producer's choice in 'The Monday Play' slot on RTÉ Radio.
