Alan Bernnett The History Boys
Alan Bennett's play on the subject of education, encompassing both the tussles of staff-room rivalry and the anarchy of adolescence. At a grammar school in northern England in the 1980s, eight boys prep for the Oxbridge entrance exam under the tutelage of three radically different teachers. An unruly bunch of bright, funny sixth-form boys in pursuit of sex, sport, and a place at university. A maverick English teacher at odds with the young and shrewd supply teacher. A headmaster obsessed with results; a history teacher who thinks he's a fool. Adapted for radio by Richard Wortley from Nicholas Hytner's National Theatre production and performed by the original cast.
