Poor Richard's Almanack
Gelesen von Michele Fry
Benjamin Franklin
A brief biographical sketch of Franklin's life, followed by a collection (published in 1899) of 670 aphorisms, apothegms, or proverbs - short, pithy, instructive sayings - that were scattered throughout the pages of his Poor Richard's Almanack over its 25 years of once-a-year publication (1732-1758). Many of these sayings are familiar to all . . . "a penny saved is a penny earned" . . . "a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush" . . . but there are many more for you to laugh at, ponder over and learn from! Most were not invented by him, but these little gems of wisdom Franklin gleaned from all over the world are what made his Almanack so wildly popular, and himself a wealthy man.

Wonderful Words of Wisdom
Wise as ever, Benjamin Franklin offers lessons and advice in quick lines that still very much apply to America and Americans today. A must read and a hope that if we all lived by some of these words, our world would be a better place.
an American Classic

Ben Franklin kept them coming. Lots of gems here. This is a wonderful collection of sayings and well worth a listen... and maybe two listens. Thanks for the reading, which is very American, as well.
Wisdom still good today

A lot of the aphorisms are familiar and we may have wondered where they came from. Many are still worth hearing and heeding today. Many thanks to an excellent reader.
Amazing amazing book. Lots of timeless wisdom, some I disagree with, others a little outdated but I really enjoyed this pearl of a book!

A few of the aphorisms were repeats. A few of them were contradictory but I found plenty that were wise and humorous
5 Stars for content and wisdom.
