Hear It Now

(4 Sterne)

This program is an example of the damage TV did to radio and the continuing damage TV imposes on news broadcasting. Our ears communicate with the mind and our eyes have a nasty habit of wandering about and daydreaming, rather than listening to what is being said. Hear It Now gives you an immediate sense of 1950 and the thinking the US put into understanding that war. It is unfortunate that we have only 8 episodes of the program available.

They do things differently here.

Welcome to the 1950's. An absorbing slice of history, lovingly brought to us by an excellent journalist who made his name reporting England's struggle during the second world war on cbs news. A must hear for any serious student of radio history.

Fantastic

These are wonderful examples of what radio journalism used to be before show business took over and did little if anything but provide some filler between commercials. God bless the memory of Edward R. Murrow, Don Hollenbeck and Fred Friendly.

Wowzers

I have only listened to episode 1 so far. Absolutely absorbing. A U.S. Marine Division on the run, Chinese surrounding them and cutting them off from the sea and a desperate attempt in the U.N. to broker a peace deal.
