Hercule Poirot
The Adventures of Hercule Poirot was a short-lived series on the Mutual radio network, lasting just one year with few surviving episodes. The weekly series starred Harold Huber, an established stage and film actor known for playing 'heavies' and who also portrayed Fu Manchu in another radio series.
Although Agatha Christie had short stories and novels available for adaptation, all of the Poirot radio scripts were original and not based on her works. The Hehn collection features the first episode of the series from February 22, 1945, titled 'The Careless Victim.' Notably, they attempted to have Christie introduce the program over short wave, a remarkable technological feat at the time.
These recordings are part of the Joe Hehn Memorial Collection, which was digitized by a dedicated group of North American volunteers and international collectors. Mr. Hehn, who passed away in 2020, was a pioneering collector of radio recordings since the 1960s.
This recording is part of the Old Time Radio collection.
