Australian Seriies is a Classic

The Australian production of FRANKENSTEIN (in 13 parts) starring George Edwards in many of the roles (people often made fun of the way Orson Welles would play two roles on Mercury Theater radio productions but George plays seven in this and about as many in DR JEKYLL AND MR HYDE---not so much because of his ego but because there just wasn't enough money to hire all the actors they needed for these full length adaptations). This easrned him the title of "The Man with a Thousand Voices". The show was originally broadcast on 2GB in Sydney in 1931.

A bit long; but very well done

I am familiar with this historic broadcast serial from the 2 1/2 hour "featurized" condensation released on LP in the US, which eliminated cliffhangers, chapter recaps and some slight repetition of material between chapters. Whichever version you prefer, this is one of the closer adaptations to the book than any of the later films or radio dramas. It's not 100% faithful, but the overall Shelly narrative is intact and it still manages to hold the attention.

Compilation

This great compilation of Franenstein makes me wonder why I spent so many hours rading the book, and watching several different versions of the story.

Everyone talks in silent movie titles!
