High Adventure - Single Episodes
High Adventure is a captivating radio series that showcases the romantic adventure genre, primarily through the lens of the Columbia Broadcasting System. Competing networks struggled to match the allure of shows like The Whistler, Suspense, and Escape. Launched on March 1, 1947, High Adventure was often referred to as 'The Mutual Network's answer to Escape!'
The series featured original stories that emphasized realism and a strong male protagonist, often highlighting the character's strength and luck. The sound effects and character dialogue created an extraordinarily immersive atmosphere, transporting listeners to various settings, from the sunny Caribbean to the bustling locker rooms of a fictional baseball team.
High Adventure was known for its engaging storytelling and was sponsored by Old Spice Aftershave. Although NBC dropped the show at the end of the 1950 season, it was retooled in January 1953 with George Sanders as the narrator. This collection includes both the US and South African broadcasts.
This recording is part of the Old Time Radio collection.

Terrific adventure series
Ripcord
If you're a fan of "Escape", I think you'll like this series a lot. Rollicking fun and intriguing stories well written and acted. Good music and terrific sound effects. The only reason I didn't give this series 5 stars is because it's hard to beat Escape, and "Suspense" may be the only contender.
