Saint Rose of Lima, T.O.S.D. (April 20, 1586 – August 24, 1617), was a Spanish colonist in Lima, Peru, who became known for both her life of severe asceticism and her care of the needy of the city through her own private efforts. A lay member of the Dominican Order, she was the first person born in the Americas to be canonized by the Catholic Church. (Summary from Wikipedia) (4 hr 21 min)

An inspirational glimpse into how St Rose surrendered to a life of fasting and self-denial as a means of uniting herself to Jesus Christ. In our time this is a very unfashionable approach to holiness & becoming a blessing to others but this bio holds its own. Beautifully read by Eduardo & Thomas May. Sadly, the female readers seem to have tried to beat the clock - the rapid reading, monotone & childish rhythms applied to the last two chapters especially, make it very hard to follow the meaning.
Highly recommended to anyone wanting to advance in the faith
The great take away from the biography of St Rose of Lima is, the great value God gives to suffering offered to him as a token of love.

Nice to have these accounts of Saints as St. Rose who lived a life of penance. Gives relevant thoughts for those of this 21st century generation who cannot find satisfaction with the daily blessings that one enjoys...Well read too...
