Gelesen von Bill Boerst
Florence Finch Kelly
New Mexico's hot, dry winds are taking their toll: cattle suffer long treks to get food and water. But it is not just a hard time for them. Lucy Bancroft has sought a milder climate so she can recover from typhoid fever. She and her father stop to see Curt Conrad, a rancher, on their way to their new home. The two men discuss politics (some of it crooked) at the state level. they also talk about an easterner, a man named Delafield, who years earlier cheated Conrad's father out of his considerable wealth. Curt has vowed to seek revenge on Delafield if he can ever find the crook. thus begins a harrowing tale of determined search and blossoming love in the hot, dry climate of New Mexico. - Summary by Bill Boerst (7 hr 40 min)

Thank You Bill

Thank you Bill for your excellent reading of this very good story. I have listened to your readings often and you have the gift of reading which allows one to forget the reader and "picture" the story. That may sound like a paradox but it is, I think, one of the excellent qualities which, among many, make for a very good and competent reader. God bless you for the giving of your talent and time for the benefit of many others as well as myself. I hope I have made myself clear, but always feel my words are inadequate to express my appreciation and thanks...God bless you and Librivox!!!
Cowboy Adventure-Thrills! Suspense! Love!

Very well read adventure tale set in a rural Southwest town. Wild West hi-jinks abound: gun fights, horse thievery, gambling and then courting at the barbecue. Likable, complex characters make us care about the outcome. The ending is too abrupt for my liking, but doesn’t leave any loose ends. <! VERY SMALL SPOILER !>One problem: our hero is brave, I get it, but- when you have a temporary employee who is actively trying to kill you, generally you don’t offer him a permanent position. I mean, is that machismo or Wild West code or what is it?
