To Have And To Hold
Gelesen von Tom Weiss
Mary Johnston
When I first started reading this book, I thought it to be a historical romance novel. As I read further, I pondered whether it might be a sea-faring story. Reading still further, I determined it to be an adventure story. Alas, it is all three. To Have And To Hold, written by Mary Johnston was the bestselling novel of 1900. The story takes place in colonial Jamestown during the 1600s. (11 hr 40 min)

This is a wonderful book, read by a great reader. It starts off a little slow, but it gets better. Once you've gotten through the first chapter, you won't want to stop listening!

I count myself very fortunate to have come across this enthralling and skillfully written novel. Mary Johnston brings her story to life through amazing description and detailed character development thus providing a clear window into 1600s life in the new world. There is great adventure, tension and romance with betrayal and calamity ever present. Chapeau to Tom Weiss for yet another brilliant narration.
ok but a bit slow

Compared to other ripping yarns like The prisoner of Zenda or The time machine, it is a bit ponderous. But I am glad to have discovered a new (for me) author and would try another of her books.
