(4,469 Sterne; 127 Bewertungen)

Bored with his life as a wealthy businessman's only son, Travers Gladwin learns of a plot by a renowned art burglar to rob his house, so rather than thwart the planned burglary, he borrows a police uniform from a friend and decides to confront the robber by posing as an officer. When the burglar arrives at the house, he tries to pass himself off as Travers Gladwin. From there, things only get more complicated, including the arrival of the burglar's girlfriend who believes that her beau is the wealthy man's son. Comical and timely, the book was made into a movie multiple times, each hugely successful. (Summary by Roger Melin) (7 hr 51 min)

Very entertaining story read in the most excellent way. Trigger warning for snowflakes - a not even remotely politically correct tale. Lots here to offend the easily offended. We won't be around to hear the shock and disgust of future generations as they read some of our stupid ideas, so it behooves us to not judge the past by the present, constantly changing and neurotic sensitivities.

Interesting book

The summary pretty much says it all. I found the story quite engrossing, and a bit frustrating; it seemed just as things would be okay, they take yet another turn for the worse. All ends well, however, and with a bit of humor. The reader was pretty good. All in all a good story worth giving a listen to.

Shakespeare mixed with Wodehouse

(4 Sterne)

Set in the era and with characters reminiscent of Jeeves and Bertie Wooster, with two couples trying to fall in love, and enough mix-ups to pay homage to Shakespeare, or at least a tip of the hat. Not this reader's best recording, but still better than average.

JEEVES MEETS THE KEYSTONE KOPS

A most enjoyable romp. The worst thing one can say is that there is only one book to enjoy. Roger always reads well. Thank you.
