G.A. Henty’s “tale of ancient Egypt” tells the story of Amuba, prince of the Rebu, who is taken captive when his people are conquered by the Egyptians, and then becomes the servant and companion of Chebron, son of the high priest of Osiris. A mystery unfolds as the lads find evidence of a murderous conspiracy within the ranks of the priesthood; but they must then flee for their lives when they unintentionally kill the cat selected as the successor to the Cat of Bubastes, one of the most sacred animals of Egypt. Amuba and Chebron are strong, courageous, and resourceful – but will this be enough to carry them beyond the long reach of the power of Egypt? (Summary by D. Leeson) (10 hr 46 min)

This book made me a Henty fan!

(5 Sterne)

As a proof-listener at Librivox.org, I was fortunate to PL this book, read by David Leeson. I enjoyed the book a great deal, & David's reading only made it better! As someone who has some eye problems, I rely heavily on audiobooks. I'm now a big fan of G. A. Henty because of this book! David used different voices for each character, & that really enhanced the listening experience. I was eagerly awaiting each new chapter to see what happened next! I recommend this book for preteens, teenagers, & adults. Listening to the characters' adventures is exciting! It's also Christian-based (so it's clean) without being preachy, so it definitely won't offend those who don't want overbearing Christian content. I highly recommend it for anyone eager for a great adventure in ancient Egypt!

I had to do a book report on this book. And thanks to this app, I pulled together an awesome book report "On time." Thanks LibriVox! :-)

I thoroughly enjoyed this tale of Ancient Egypt. Learning much about the culture, I look forward to reading this again one day with my children.

Henty never fails to entertain. but, more importantly, he never fails to educate. I must also agree with the other commentators that the reader drd an exemplary job.

Excellent reader, great book!

Best of Henty's works is this. A must-read. My iPad is glitching, it should be 5 stars, not 4.5. Sorry.

Excellent!

I just recently discovered this author, and am wholy enjoying his work. This story is the best that I've read to date. It's detailed but not bogged down by it, it's plot and characters are well thought out, it's got plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing and just plain entertaining. The reader does an excellent job.

1 of Henty's Best, Reader has Pleasant Voice

This of is one of Henty's best stories, in my opinion. There are less tedious descriptions of long battles than in most of his novels. There's more emphasis on characters and culture. The reader has a pleasant voice.

exciting tale and blissful read

the book was tailor-made to suit my taste. The plots that unfold ,do so smoothly. though u can sort of guess what unfurls in the future , subtle twists in the plot , compliment it well. Would recommend it to everyone
