Against Heresies

Gelesen von LibriVox Volunteers

St. Irenaeus, Bishop of Lyons, describes several schools of Gnosticism which were prevalent among pre-Nicene Christianity. He then refutes these beliefs as heresies by contrasting them with what he describes as catholic, orthodox Christianity. Against Heresies demonstrates that earliest Christianity was a fascinating and diverse plethora of beliefs, debates, and schisms. (Summary by JoeD) (25 hr 39 min)

I really wish it was read by a single speaker, (some of them were outstanding and others not so much,) but as far as listening to free audiobooks is concerned, I legitimately can’t complain about that too much, especially since this regards a book by one of the early church fathers. But as to the book itself, it’s an interesting though not necessarily inspired read, (it has certainly helped increase my Greek vocabulary to a certain extent.)

This book was an education! While I got a little lost in its book 2 with all the details about the heresies, I found overall that it presented a wonderful array of teachings from the early Church. I would recommend it to anyone seeking knowledge about God and Christianity, especially how the Church has been Catholic from the outset.

I much prefer the men readers! I fail to understand the ladies whose first language is not plain old American talk .
