Memoirs of Miss Sidney Bidulph
Gelesen von Rachel Lintern
Frances Sheridan
Sidney and Cecilia are best childhood friends who are forced to part for 5 years. In that interval, Sidney Bidulph - an undoubtedly good and dutiful woman - writes to her friend about everything: her marriage, her children, her other friendships and, above all, about her great love for Mr. Faulkland. In an amazing and unforgettable way, this book shows us that the road to happiness is not always clear - and that sometimes doing what seems to be right is not really the right thing to do. With Rachel's lovely reading, we see her - Sidney Bidulph - as she was meant to be, and as she really is. (Summary by Stav Nisser) (21 hr 54 min)

Brilliant 18th century social critique

Didn't expect to enjoy this and only started from curiosity about Frances Sheridan but wow what an author. I think it helps to read a bit about what she's criticizing in her society as 18th century England is another universe. Also terrific reader, thanks so much, wish the two volume sequel was available...
Excellent Reading!

Rachel Lintern has done a fantastic job this this book. It was written around 1760, and because of that I expected the dialogue to be stilted and flowery, but it is surprisingly natural, and Rachel really makes it come alive. It is a very interesting reflection on love and marriage back in those times, and I stayed up way past bedtime for several nights not wanting to shut off my Ipod.
Wonderful!

An excellent story that I could hardly bear to put down. The narration by Miss Lintern is flawlessly done and her delightful voice brings a genuineness to all the characters and especially to the protagonist. Wonderfully entertaining!
