Good author, good book, well written. The descriptions of cannibalism were quite terrifying, though, and I don't have enough knowledge to decide how much was based on true accounts and what pure fiction. The reader did his usual excellent job, his voice and upbeat tone always bring interest to any story. I hope he can read more books of a style such as this, a little different from the regular adventure. Thank you.
Pretty good book

Three youngsters are stranded on a deserted island and they find adventure and religion on the high seas. Odd combination, and the book is a bit preachy at times. About 3/4 of the way through I felt like I had heard enough of the book and I was going to switch to a new one, I kept listening and it picked up. So, there is a bit of a lag in the middle that might leave you feeling a bit blah about the book, but overall its pretty good. The reader was excellent, and the quality of the recording was excellent.
Love everything about this.
Great reader Tom Weiss. I just random throw a search... so glad I did. Has Christian theme slightly... but it is historical to reference the natives. Anyone will enjoy.

The first chapters are delightful but as it went on it got darker and darker. Very graphic violence in parts. Very well written. I loved the character building.
where is the ending??

this stops at ch 25 without a conclusion... is that the way it was meant to be?? other than that I highly reccomend this.

I am so pleased to have come across this author and this the first book of his I have had the pleasure to hear. This is a wonderful seafaring tale that provides great insight into the perils and travails of sailing around the South Pacific islands in the 1800s. It is also admirably narrated. This is a tale of camaraderie between young men and how they overcome the perils brought on by storms, pirates and cannibals. There is great detail and character development and I certainly got a real sense of the challenges of trading in this part of the world at the time. It's a most enjoyable listen.
