Phineas Finn is the fourth in Trollope's series of six Palliser novels. At the end of Phineas Finn, the second novel in the series, Phineas had returned to Ireland and married his childhood sweetheart after having left the House of Commons. As Phineas Redux opens, Phineas is working as a Poorhouse Inspector in Ireland. His wife having died in childbirth, he finds his existence dull and unsatisfying. Phineas' returns to England; his career advances and his romantic adventures continue, while we encounter many familiar characters including Glencora and Plantagenet Palliser, Madame Goesler, and Lizzie Eustace and her husband the Reverand Mr. AEmelius. (Summary by Karen Merline)

a glorious ride

This, book 4 of the 6 book Palliser series, takes up where the earlier Phineas Finn novel ends. If you are reading this review I don’t have to ring its praises...you are already hooked. The characters are sympathetic and the plot lines so rich, it is perfect escapist fiction. I am thrilled to have two more books in which to sink myself into the world of Plenti-Pal the Duke of Omnium. 5 enthusiastic stars for Trollop as well as the readers.

שמעון עין גל
Another sharp-eyed comment on Parliament in the 1860s and a detailed description of foxhunting. This volume, like the previous, is marred by the prevailing antisemitism of the heroes and the author himself. I was almost wishing for Phineas to be hanged and for Joseph Emilius to escape the law and prosper.
Enjoyed the story ... but

Why does Librivox are so strident & shrill it is painful to listen to them. Example chapters 29& 30. Then we are given the treat of her cacaphoneous & strangely cadences voice several more times. ouch! Trollope & all your listeners deserve better!
IVANO RUGGERI
Trollope weaves a brilliant tapestry, portraying scramble for wealth and power amongst the British aristocratic classes and their acolytes. The readers are generally good, some outstanding but as usual 2 chapters are hideously recorded (was he doing it on a long distance phone call?)
PHINEAS REDEEMS HIS PHOOLDOM

It is said that heaven watches over phools. Phineas is a prime example, but he is now safe with his lady love. This is another enjoyable and compelling book in this series.
Trollope at his best

I have thoroughly enjoyed this series of novels. Cannot wait for the next in the series.

Appreciate readers but some are just not good, which spoils your investment in the book.
Enjoyable

A mix of clear and fuzzy recordings, but still enjoyed the story.
