The Three Taps: A Detective Story Without a Moral

Ronald Knox
If it was murder, how did the murderer get through a door and leave it locked on the inside? If suicide, how did the dead man turn off the gas? A tantalizing mystery well written and not lacking the saving grace. (Ontario Library Review, 1926) (7 hr 1 min)

Unfortunately, the quality of the readers ranged from excellent to execrable. With better readers it might have rated 5 stars.
great story, grateful, yet still needs a single reader

Only his second mystery novel and Msgr. Knox has hit his stride. The Bredons are an enjoyable crime-solving couple. There is plenty of gentle humor and fun. The puzzle is satisfying. I am extremely grateful to have been able to listen to this novel and grateful to the readers, yet I must say the ability to understand and enjoy the novel is hampered by the variety of voices, pronunciation, and sound quality. All the same the story is such that it has become one of my repeat "comfort" novels, the only multiple reader novel to do so.
Good Plot
