I Love A Mystery - Temple of Vampires

(2,857 Sterne; 7 Bewertungen)

Tony Randall plays Reggie York in this 1950 version. Also starring in this production is the unforgettable Mercedes McCambridge, playing Sunny. Note: Several installments are missing, making for some rather large gaps in the plots.

This recording is part of the Old Time Radio collection.

Missing Episodes

(4 Sterne)

Bud Carey hosted an OTR show on KPFA out of Berkeley, CA. He was playing Temple episodes announcing at the beginning that several episodes were missing. In the middle of the show Bud said a listener called in leaving a message that he had the missing episodes that were part of a set issued to hearing impaired listeners. Bud asked the caller to phone back. Next week Bud sadly announced no callback received. An added note re Bud Carey. . .KPFA was a pseudo public service station out of Berkeley manned by volunteers mostly from the University of California. One of Bud's shows was a mystery type and it ran past its 60 minute time space and was unceremoniously cut off before its closing denouement. Unhappy with this treatment Bud left the station. Picking up info from sketchy sources I read Bud went back later and with professional personnel, reproduced the missing episodes which I think are now in the OTR swap environment. Comments welcome. My Dad, recently deceased, loved I Love A Mystery and recounted how scared he was when this Temple of Vampires storyline ran when he was a kid. Thanks for the link to OTR, they have all 20 episodes, but from the 1950 recycled version. Since my dad was born in 1929, he was no kid in 1950. In OTR website, they mention this storyline was previously used in 1940 and 1944. I'm sure it was the 1940 version that thrilled my dad so much. Thanks again!

pretty good

There are missing episodes. https://www.oldtimeradiodownloads.com/thriller/i-love-a-mystery/6 has 20 episodes of the temple, some are reenacted by different cast members. Some of the redone chapters are kind of questionable due to language and inferences and the time it was originally done.
