Saturday July 16th, 1949. Ray mentions that the Boston Red Sox were leading the previous night 7-2, but lost 8-7 to the Tigers. In the Friday July 15, 1949 game at Detroit, Boston was ahead 7-2 at the seventh inning stretch, but Detroit scored twice in the bottom of the seventh inning and four times in the ninth, giving them an 8-7 win.
