if you're interested in Alaskan native cultures or missionary work you will enjoy this book. from a contemporary perspective, it can be hard to appreciate because at times Duncan's methods were imperialistic and it will rankle anyone sensitive to the topic of colonialism vs. cultural issues. but it's still worth reading and the book has sparked my interest in tsimshian culture.
