Sixteen-year-old Meg Traherne has never known loss. Until the beautiful, talented horse she trained herself, drops dead underneath her in the show ring.
Jared Strickland has been living with loss ever since his father died in a tragic farming accident.
Meg escapes from her grief by changing everything about her life; moving away from home to spend her summer living on an island in the St. Lawrence River, scrubbing toilets and waiting on guests at a B
Once there, she meets Jared; doing his best to keep anything else in his life from changing.
When Jared offers Meg a scruffy appaloosa mare out of a friend's back field, it's the beginning of a journey that will change both of them by summer's end.

Enjoyable story.

Is a bit of a girlish story, but still a fun listen, even for a guy. Author is the reader and seems to execute that role fairly well. The writing style is a little different in that while narrating the heroine the thought description can be brief & staccato. Pleasant affect. Author's understanding of training horses & even riding students adds to fun. Then of course there is the tension of young love, but in a framework of responsibility & accountability. Refreshing! Note: This Pod - format book does come with advertising between each chapter or so. Not intrusive but ... I guess the author does need proper payment for labours.

Love this book. I don't know much about horse back riding but have took time to look at the different terms used and it really is interesting to be able to learn something new. Can't wait for the rest of the books.
