This book/story was very good until the confrontation chapter where it took a weird and then violent turn. I liked the characters, and the story even though I didn't care for the amount of violence and anger in the second half of the audiobook. The audio has quite a few errors, but it doesn't take away from the audiobook much.

I usually love Blake's books. This book would have been a Christmas Classic BUT, the violence and cussing in the middle are very jarring. it's been a light hearted kid's christmas romp until then... SPOILERS..... and all of a sudden it's "son of a bitch. damn. bastard. bastard. damn. bitch". Even including one of these curse words holds it back from being family friendly. That and the gun shot wounds, hitting the protagonist in the head with a gun and then beating them while the child is screaming.. it's horrifying.
good, original story

I liked this story. Its modern with lots of pop culture references. I think it would make a good movie. The reading is good and clear, easy to understand. I gave it 4 stars because I thought the confrontation at the end was a bit much, but I understand why the author put it in there, so as far as the "moral" goes, the scene shows what it's meant to.

It's official. I've just decided this should become the next Christmas classic. Even though I read this story in April, it was completely engaging, very funny, and totally entertaining. As I listened, I tried to imagine what actors could/should play each role. Tim Allen and Tom Hanks naturaly came to ...

I live with a Christmas Junkie wife, so this book hit close to home! I loved it - every twist and turn, every witty reference to current Christmas icons (without mentioning them by name - what a great technique!), the fast-paced writing... This is an author who deserves a lot ...

Overall, this Christmas story is very creative and imaginative with some wonderful humorous and light hearted images. The story gradually lifts your spirits and makes you happy. My minor criticism is that some sentences could be better written with fewer cliches and stronger verbs. The first chapter has an intentional ...

The idea of a Christmas story didn't exactly tickle my fancy, but the writing was engaging and humorous. Somewhere in the middle I decided I really liked the story. It was creative, imaginative, and entertaining. I thought the ending was perfect, but I'm a bit disappointed that it's over.
