Doctor Janeway's Plague
Gelesen von John Farrell
John Farrell
A science-fiction thriller about an astronomer who discovers a source of cosmic rays which may be the origin of an ancient plague reviving once again.
A young woman reaches Cambridge in search of a distant relative whom she believes has lived longer than any other human being.
An astronomer discovers a strange, point-like source of cosmic rays coming from the constellation of the Unicorn.
A retiring professor discovers documents from Puritan times about a series of strange deaths and disappearances in the early Boston settlement. One of the signed witnesses has the exact same name as a celebrated minister whom the old professor has welcomed on campus.
Three sleuths and three threads…all leading to the same man.
"I long to believe in immortality," wrote John Keats over 150 years ago. There are those who knew while the poet lived — and those who know better now — that some things are better not wished for. The Reverend Doctor Janeway knows why. And his secret is one of the most dangerous ever uncovered.

Everything great about cosmic horror
Apollyon
While most of the information is given through dialogue the drip is impeccable. Author does a great job narrating too, though as others are saying the sound effects are a little corny. Great mystery and great take on cosmic horror. Liked the incorporation of Jewish mythology, too.

What a good story. I had a little bit of trouble keeping some of the characters straight--I thought Miriam and Nancy were the same person for an embarrassingly long time--but the complicated plot unfolded itself clearly. You respected your reader/listeners. The plot moved quickly and it wasn't explained to death. ...

Just an update: I'm working with CreateSpace (formerly CustomFlix which distributes my DVDs online) to bring a new edition of Doctor Janeway's Plague out in trade paperback this Fall. Hopefully before the end of September, and at an affordable price (i.e., less than standard trade paperbacks). It will be available ...

Wow! This was a terrific suspense/thriller/horror story. I would not call it science-fiction. I didn't care for some of the music and I thought that some of the sound effects were incongruous with the story line, but I don't think anything was taken away from the story. There were a ...

Good story that I have already recommended to others, although not quite what I usually go for. I was sucked in by the sci-fi astrophysics angle. Personally, I'd place this more in the horror genre but wouldn't have downloaded were that the case. Actually, I think it would make a ...

Paul and Louisa, thanks so much for your comments. Sadly, Paul, there is little I can do about my voice--but I don't hold that against you. Louisa, thanks so much for your thoughtful commentary. I'm so glad you liked it.

Sorry - unable to get past episode 6. Good story but poor narration. Too fast and monotone to digest, for me anyway. Sorry for the negative feedback. Compared to say JC Hutchins 7th Son. Kind regards Paul.

Liked the story. A good mix of science and mysticism I also had trouble keeping some of the characters straight, but it all worked out in the end. Good stuff and I recommended it to friends.
