100 stars!

(5 Sterne)

If 100 stars were available, this show would deserve them. Unbelievably splendid mix of classical and pop arrangements, performed by some of the best voices I've ever heard. (It's too bad the recording is scratchy. Usually I don't mind, but in this case it does interfere.) In the '30s and '40s the best singers and instrumentalists were the unnamed or unheralded studio musicians. The big-name orchestras and opera singers were sloppy and 'bulky', incapable of delicacy or accuracy. This show is the best example of that rule. Other OTR examples: Martha Mears as heard in 10-2-4 Ranch; the anonymous groups in Komedy Kingdom; and the quartet in Down Our Way.
