Top sci-fi

(5 Sterne)

Now this was the way to take it to the sci-fi lovers like me!!!

what a great show

(5 Sterne)

In the interest of making this page more search engine & novice friendly, I've written the authors by episode in nowise complete fashion. These listings indicate they wrote the story not the radio adaptation. Ray Bradbury "Dwellers in Silence" "The Veldt" "Kaleidoscope" "Marionettes, Inc." "Mars is Heaven" "And the Moon Be Still as Bright" "There Will Come Soft Rains / Zero Hour" Murray Leinster "The Lost Race" "A Logic Named Joe" "First Contact" H. Beam Piper "Time and Time Again" Kurt Vonnegut "Report on the Barnhouse Effect" Isaac Asimov "Nightfall" "A Pebble in the Sky" Jack Williamson "With Folded Hands" Donald Wollheim "The Embassy" Jack Vance "The Potters of Firsk" Robert Bloch "Almost Human" L. Ron Hubbard "The Professor Was a Thief" Robert Heinlein "Universe" "The Green Hills of Earth" "Requiem" "Destination Moon" "The Roads Must Roll" Clifford Simak "Courtesy" Frederic Brown "Knock"

Thanks and notes on missing episodes

Thanks for posting these! Update to the below message: a more complete archive of Dimension X, in higher fidelity (128 kb), can be found here: http://www.archive.org/details/OTRR_Dimension_X_Singles I'm not sure about the encoding rate on this set, but it's supposed to be the highest quality available (from the same group that posted the above Omnibus downloads): http://www.archive.org/details/OTRR_Certified_Dimension_X At least a couple of episodes of Dimension X that are missing from this archive are elsewhere online. I noticed that two Robert Heinlein stories, "Universe" and "The Green Hills of Earth", aren't here but are on this page (in real audio-yuck!): < http://www.otr.net/?p=dimx >. For a "Episode Log", visit this page: http://www.otrsite.com/logs/logd1013.htm

Mars is Heaven, first broadcast 7-6-1950 on Dimension X

(5 Sterne)

On old-time radio, I've listened to numerous adaptations of "Mars is Heaven" by Ray Bradbury. Ernest Kinoy's adaptation is head and shoulders above any other I've ever heard. It masterfully builds suspense until you are on the very edge of your seat. The performances are all that you could hope for, and then some. Wendell Holmes as Captain Black, and Peter Capell as Doctor Horst are pitch-perfect. Finest 28 minutes ever on the radio, IMO.

Martian Chronicles

(5 Sterne)

I enjoy listening to "Martian Chronicles" on my "singing metal book (Samsung Omnia), over which, (I) brush (my) hand as one might play a harp." And enjoy many other programs, from The Campbell's Playhouse to Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar and from Suspense to Jack Benny. It's a fine thing to have these programs preserved at archive.org. Thanks!

good sci-fi

(5 Sterne)

I normally like more horror stories than sci-fi but these are good! There will come soft rains is an edited version. of the Martian chronicles and the outer limits and first contact are the exact same story! apart from that I really enjoyed listening to these. gets your imagination working!

Excellent listening despite some irritating music& sound effects

(4 Sterne)

A good selection of sci fi stories well spoken. However several had music playing over the speech that was louder than the voices making me give up on them and move to the next one part way through.

Dimension X best Sci Fi

(5 Sterne)

Some of the best sci -fi to appear on the radio. Dimension X was largely replayed as part of the later X minus 1 series. Features some of the now famous, but then unknown, authors such as Assimov and Heinlein.
