I really enjoyed the suspenseful plot. The reader's continuous mispronunciation of the female lead's name was irritating. But not enough to stop listening. And that's my issue. Don't let it stop you from listening to a wonderfully written book.

Dark Inheritance

Great Reader! Good book. Started out kind of dark but redeemed itself!

Fast Moving Dime Novel Melodrama

(4 stars)

This is an old fashioned page turner that moves swiftly, so if you find a point tiresome. or a character description irksome (why must the ugliness of the villainous be so stressed throughout?) don't worry, the story will move past it swiftly. Also, it's nice to see a story from this era set in New Orleans, and yet not be filled with racial claptrap. The "Dark Inheritance" of the title, which is the story's McGuffin, makes sense, given the period. I'd suggest simply forgiving the final plot twist. I liked the reader on this. Sometimes, high powered melodrama is best served by a calm, laconic voice.

a good story

(4 stars)

This is a good story although a little long winded in parts. The reader tells the story well but the mispronunciations are numerous and distracting.

The content was enjoyable. The reader, however, was hard to listen to. Mispronunciation of words and lack of inflection was heard throughout.

(2.5 stars)

This is an amazingly clumsy story. Good for doing dishes and laundry though.

No shooting and gun smoke but I still give it a 5
