Too long

(2.5 stars)

I have read many Anna Katherine Greene books but this one was not one of my favorites. It was too long and most of the characters were u likable. I love Mr. Bruce but the main female character, especially, was a noting. The story drug on too tediously until the last few chapters. The reader has a nice voice but he reads with an odd cadence and sing song characteristic.

This was another exciting story with several layers of mystery, twists and doubts of character. So many ins and outs that I was unable to detect the culprit and was surprised at who it turned out to be. Very well read by the volunteer and am grateful for his efforts.

Great Story

(4.5 stars)

The story has a lot of surprises all the way to the end which made for a very engrossing book. Mr Kilmer did an excellent job reading such a very long book and I was sorry when it was done. Great story with nice narration. What more could one want!

Well read. Good long epic style story with strong dialogues, character builds and perplexing challenges in the plot which makes for a very enjoyable long listen with a strong undercurrent of intertwined romance pressured by the uncertainty of who dunnit Thanks!

Long Long Long but stick to it!

love the soothing sound of Richard's voice! plot quite lengthy w/many twists & turns, Maybe too many? In the end it was a pretty good who done it!

Very long story but worth listening to. The reader grew on me.

Good (Long) Mystery

(4 stars)

The murder is cleverly plotted, and the naughty behavior of some of the suspects is well explained at the end. The way the threads of circumstantial evidence are carefully woven at the beginning, and carefully unwoven during the trial sequences is also impressive. What's different (and what may annoy some) is the unveiling of the murderer comes a little earlier than is usual, and the last part of the story involves a team of detectives discovering the motive of the crime, rather than the traditional whodunnit. The reader does not dramatize at all. Instead he contents himself with a clearly enunciated "books for the blind" approach that sometimes works against the melodrama in the story.

One of my favorite authors. Good story. However the narrators mode of reading makes it very hard to enjoy as his speed up and stop method of speaking is really distracting, though his voice is nice I won't choose to listen to him again.
