The House of the Vampire is a 1907 novella that is a very unusual vampire story. A young writer comes under the powerful influence of a mysterious older master, who seems to have left a trail of ruined proteges in his wake. The story is as much about the nature of artistic creation as it is a chilling vampire tale. (Summary by Elizabeth Klett) (2 hr 48 min)

Interesting take on vampire lore. A parasite is a parasite is a....... As always Elizabeth is phenomenal!

Gothic romanticism, florid prose

Not bad, if you're into that kind of thing. I had been using it to go to sleep to, but finally I started to listen and finished it. Very rococo- lots of pretty bits all over to distract from the flimsy construction. Not a whole lot happens- it's more about thinking than doing. In the end, I'm still not sure if this is a supernatural story or a psychological one.
