Reviews
Good old fashioned Sci-Fi

Willy Bob
This is like a Star-Trec episode with an interesting ending. If you can't understand the reader, keep listening--soon you'll look forward to listening to the other books he reads.
Another piece of classic SciFi

To me not one of 'Docs' best stories, now don't get me wrong the story line is excellent, but I found it a little flat. That was when I read this many years ago. R.J. Davis is a revelation his reading, feeling and voices made this story explode into life!
Give the story time

As to the reader: At the beginning, the reader put me off to the point where I wanted to discontinue listening. He reminded me of a family member of mine that spoke with a breathing tube, & that brought back sad memories. A bit further in, it seems they edited his breathing out (or he got better. As to the. story: The best part was where one of the lead characters (reasoning & rational to a fault) reassesses his valuation of desirability & feminine pulchritude, as he falls for an x antithetical his previously ascribed want in a woman. This part was so good, it made me forget what I came for -- sci-fi. In fact, this part was the 5 stars that lifted the 3 star story. The negatives: The nonchalant shedding of one's own humanity; & I thought their method of victory was the enemy's plan too (I may have misheard). Regardless, the end seemed rushed somehow.

great book, too bad the reader couldt either swall or spit out the marbles he had in his mouth... unfortunately he has read a number of books for libravox, because they apparently do not check for quality.
better reader needed

I appreciate the volunteers who give their time and effort to read these books, but this reader’s style and diction make this a tough listen.

The reader is almost incomprehensible. Only listened to the first five minutes. Terrible. Come in LibriVox, carry out some quality control

It takes about a chapter to get use to the readers voice however once you do it's worth it.
great story but would be better if it was 2 or 3 times longer
