The Surprising Adventures of Baron Munchausen
Rudolf Erich Raspe
Read by LibriVox Volunteers
The stories about Münchhausen were first collected and published by an anonymous author in 1781. An English version was published in London in 1785, by Rudolf Erich Raspe, as Baron Munchhausen's Narrative of his Marvellous Travels and Campaigns in Russia, also called The Surprising Adventures of Baron Munchhausen. It is not clear how much of the story material derives from the Baron himself; however, it is known that the majority of the stories are based on folktales that have been in circulation for many centuries before Münchhausen's birth. Reviews
Utterly charming
Timothy Ferguson
Humorous stories read by performers who are obviously having a wonderful time. Simply a great recording: one of theb est I've listened to on Librivox.
Fair to excellent readers, OK book
Stephen
First of all, there were certainly some very good readers here. My favourites were Glen Hallstrom and Christopher Sanner, but nobody was a really bad reader. I only wish those two excellent ones had recorded more for LibriVox than they so far have. The book, however, is only fair. The ‘English’ chapters were decidedly inferior to the ‘German’ ones, and even those might have been improved by spreading the hunting stories out among the others.
True account of a great American

People who doubt author veracity are Donald Trump supporters.
