In Search of the Unknown
Robert W. Chambers
Read by Peter Eastman
Robert Chambers was a contemporary of Lovecraft, and this book consists of "weird supernatural tales" in a somewhat similar manner, except that the emphasis is on humor rather than horror. The narrator works for the newly opened Bronx Zoo in New York. He describes his adventures trying to obtain various rare specimens for the zoo's collection, animals that range from the merely extinct to the considerably more unusual. Along the way, he invariably finds a beautiful woman to fall in love with. (Summary by Peter Eastman) (9 hr 14 min)

Reviews
Fun, frivolous, & very entertaining.
Seven Archers
Don't let the title mislead you, this was a fun, light hearted, & very entertaining story. The reader did a pretty good job, but his style at times annoyed me (but that's probably just me?). A fun one to listen to while working, etc. Thank you LibriVox
John Price
story was weak enough but narrator with his added voice DRAMA really really ruins it for myself, and will not ever listen to this narrator again, but thanks for volunteering to ruin stories. thank you Libervox you ROCK!!!

I thought that this would be in the style of ‘The King in Yellow’ also by Chambers, but it turned out to be a wonderfully, eccentric fun book. Thank you for a great reading.
A LibriVox Listener
A funny and entertaining light read. The reader is very good, with a pleasant voice. I wonder if perhaps J. K. Rowling might have gotten some inspiration for her "Fantastic Beasts" from this book...?
Collection of adventures

In 1905 this was probably very thrilling. I found it amusing and a little corny, but still enjoyed it. Well read
very fun!
AirCanuck
A fun book, very well read as always by Peter Eastman.
Good reader.

A potpourri of gently amusing nonsense.

Cute, but the stories never quite land.
