Read by Maya Lassiter
From San Fransisco's Tenderloin to the Dismal Swamp of North Carolina, human trafficking, vampires, and conjure magic combine in this sexy, funny, spooky story about Raine Black, a struggling comic strip artist with a gift--her comics come true. Enter Joshua: Raine's secret childhood friend, an abolitionist, and a vampire. Possessed by a revenge demon his vampire religion can't contain, Joshua just wants to get Raine safe from the demon, and from the other vampires, so he can kill himself in peace before the demon takes him over. But Raine thinks she can draw Joshua a comic with a happy ending, if she just has a little more time. And the demon has an offer. It wants to strike a bargain...with Raine.

Maya, very good job! I'm known as a rather gruff old bastard, (I'm 58) and I don't usually listen to romance stories, but I was literally spell bound with your book... I'm not kidding here, I missed meals because I wouldn't quit listening to your work... Pretty racy at times, ...

WOW! Just listened to first two episodes and i'm totally hooked.Cleared my desk, folded laundry , sorted files just so I could stay close enough to hear this story unfold. Very powerful characters, esp. Joshua, Ha. Inside Raine's head , she's vulnerable and armored . So impressed!!

I enjoyed this story very much. If I may borrow from Now Novel’s website “10 elements of a good story” they list them as: conflict, tension, surprise, extraordinary characters behavior, controversy, mystery, and suspense. In this novel all of these elements are present. Why four stars then? The ending. To me, the ending was very weak. A few paragraphs that seemed to be written just to finish the story.
Where'd the vampire religion come from?

Conjuring Raine is just a sidekick to Supervamp the freedom fighter but she's great too. He's just one guy (sort of) but she represents a long line of powerful women. Loved this story! The jumping around of points of view and time settings held my interest; let us know what we needed when we needed it. Well done!

Maya, wonderful job! I was quickly drawn in by Raine and Joshua's story. I liked the alternating POVs. You've managed to avoid all those self-description problems in so many 1st person narratives and your dialog is so well written, I had no problem 'keeping up' with who was 'speaking'. You ...

There's a lot of vampire fiction in the market these days. It takes a lot for a vampire story to distinguish itself, and to my mind, 'Conjuring Raine' indeed accomplishes this well. The emphasis on the relationship between Raine and Joshua is what distinguishes the tale - its not so ...

Even if you're not into the vampire genre, I feel you'll enjoy this story for its well-developed characters and plot. Maya does an admirable job of letting us get to know the main characters while ably populating her story with secondary and tertiary characters who actually contribute to the plot ...
