A Great Man
TheBookworm
A wonderful piece of prose. The structure of Bennett's stories are a lesson to would-be writers in atmosphere, humour, and pacing. Hard to understand why hardly anyone reads him -- except for Anna of the Five Towns, which I see a lot in airport bookshops. I'm working my way through Simon Evers' recordings for LibriVox with great pleasure. His calm and understated style of narration fits particularly well with this gentle, very English novel. Thank you Simon! TheBookworm (Manchester, UK)

A big thank you to Simon Evers: my default reader. His voice introduces me to authors I had not previously known. I now can't wait to start another by Arnold Bennet whose satire is as applicable to the follies of our 21st century society as to his own. Do choose it.....such fun!
Great Fun!

This book was a lot of fun to listen to and I was sorry it ended. It’s pretty hard to beat Arnold Bennett read by Simon Evers. The story has characters that one cares for and some laugh out loud moments. Simply wonderful!
THE GIFTED ARE DIFFERENT
AVID READER
Bennett is one of the gifted, in that he can make even the most mundane things exciting and interesting. Having said that, it is also a fact that Simon Evers possesses a rare gift of narration. In tandem they are unbeatable.
fun easy listening story
A LibriVox Listener
This is a funny story, with very likeable characters. As usual the reader is superb, he has the talent to make one recognize characters by the voices he uses for each one.
Brilliant!
